We are pleased to join with the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation in convening medical leaders, health professions educators and learners to showcase innovations and share promising models related to graduate medical education in our region. This meeting is part of the Macy Regional Conferences on Innovations in GME, a six-region conference series to illuminate innovations in physician training across the country. The University of Michigan will hold its meeting on May 23-24, 2016.

Several reports have been issued regarding the need for change and accountability in GME (e.g. Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation reports in 2010 and 2011, National Academy of Medicine report, etc.). With the focus of health care systems on ‘high value healthcare’, how should GME be engaging? The purpose of this regional meeting is to gather stakeholders to discuss progress, share exemplars, and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Target audience

(Open meeting although registration will be required)

  1. Program directors, Designated Institution Official’s (DIO’s), and education leaders from academic medical centers across the Midwest.

  2. Trainees, learners and program coordinators.

  3. Other stakeholders that are dealing with linkages between GME and healthcare (e.g. IPE, payers, governmental representatives, etc.)
